The Hush latch is a frame mounted modified striking plate that eases the passage of the latchbolt into the keep. This enables, for example, door closer latching power to be kept to a minimum as comparatively little force is necessary to allow the latchbolt to fully engage within the keep. The benefits of this small yet ingenious product include, less danger to children from door slamming on their fingers, less noise from doors banging in e.g. hospital wards or nursing homes; doors always fully close and are less likely to get stuck as can happen with standard strikes, therefore security is maintained.
