Opened in January 2005, the construction of one of the world’s largest wooden treehouses was an opportunity to make The Alnwick Garden an unrivalled experience for everyone. A place to learn, play, relax and enjoy, The Treehouse is a 6,000 sq ft complex of buildings, linked by suspended walkways.
Components:
Two resource rooms, one fully equipped with the latest technology, have been designed to host the Alnwick Garden’s learning programmes. These will run programmes for schools and courses such as Science and Art, Healthy Eating and stories linked to the Poison Garden
4000 sq ft of satellite walkways – all accessible for wheelchairs and buggies
Built using natural materials from sustainable sources including Canadian Cedar, Scandinavian
Redwood and English and Scots pine
A multi-function 2,000 sq ft eating area for visitors to enjoy and for event hire
The Treehouse has an external timber-decked veranda
Entrance to the main body of The Treehouse is by a ramp, enabling wheelchair access
The Treehouse and its facilities have a capacity of around 440 people at any time
